Trying to keep up a house with a husband and two small children has been the hardest thing. So I was talking with my sister-in-law today and she suggested this website that is all about organizing your home and lives. I think it is just wonderful (the things that I have been able to read just today). I hope you find it helpful and if you do please comment on why so that all of the other mothers and homemakers out there can join in our rejoicings. YEA for help in organizing!

A big sister moment

Aspynn Vera Frost

Aspynn Vera Frost joined our family at 9:48 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2008 (yes, we know it's Halloween). She was 7 lbs. 14.5 oz, 19.5" (but isn't going to stay that small because she eats really well).

We went into the hospital at 11:30 p.m. Thursday night to be induced, but they decided to see if things would progress on their own. After receiving some pain medication, we both slept for a few hours and the contractions slowed. Kaylene recieved an epidural at about 7:30, they added pitocin to the I.V. after that, and Aspynn came a bit later.

I have kept in touch with a University buddy named Allison who has a son a few months older than Mira. Mira and Jackson got to play together at the beginning of October. He has turned into such a handsome little man :) And thanks Allison for letting us come over. We had so much fun.

Chuck E Cheeses was the next fun time with friends. Melissa and I have known each other a long time. She came down with her son to visit her family and invited us to go with them to Chuck E Cheeses. Trenton is a few months younger than Mira.

News and No news

I just wanted to update everyone about our little girl (as some say it 'no name Frost'). We are 11 days away from our due date and so I tell everyone that it could be any day. My doctor told me last week that if the baby doesn't come by her due date, Oct 30th, that he will schedule an inducement for 2 days after that. So, we will definitely have her by Nov 2nd.

I am ready, and our sister-in-law Brooke, who is due 2 days after me, are both ready to have our babies. We are in a race to see who has theirs first...would anyone like to guess which one? Should I start a poll for that too? wink wink

Any guesses on baby names?

Everyone keeps asking us what we are going to name our baby girl and we just say that the baby is due in 'two weeks' and so you will find out then.

So as a baby name poll, we would like to see what you think we will be naming our second little girl...

This summer we decided to put in a garden. We are just renting here but the owner said we could place a garden where there used to be one before. Well, we used the elders as brute labor to help pull out the grass (crab grass is the worst). And then there was the tilling and planting. After all of that, the end result is what you see above. Wheww! Larry didn't have much time and so I (Kaylene) had to do most of the work despite the fact that I was a few months prego.

After a few months of watering and weeding (yet we didn't do much weeding) we had:

Tomatoes, zucchini, squash (acorn, butternut, spaghetti), and bell peppers (at least the plants of the bell peppers).

From just one day of harvest this was the result. What beautiful color and flavor.

I loved the part that when everyone was upset for the price of tomatoes, I had plenty here at home to do what I pleased and more to spare. I sure does pay to plant a garden. I also had the opportunity to figure out the many ways to eat a zucchini.

Idaho Vacation and Yellowstone July 08

My parents, Mira and I (Kaylene) were able to drive up to Utah, Idaho, and Yellowstone this summer to see family. It was an exciting adventure. We were sure glad to see so many of our family that we haven't seen in a long while. We love you all!!

It's been a while . . .

First off, this is Larry and not Kaylene typing up this entry, but I figure that since this is a blog for our family, it's free game.

It has been a while since we posted anything on our blog and there is a lot to say, just it has been hard to find time to say it recently. We'll get around to it. We promise.

It has been a while since my family (parents and siblings) have been all together, almost five years in fact. I know that there are other families with a longer record than that, but still, five years feels like a really long time for a family where we are used to having each other around, especially us boys. And really, us boys were the ones that weren't around. We weren't around because each of us received a call from God through His living prophet to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I served in the Albania Tirana Mission from October 2003 - October 2005, Alan served in the Brazil Campinas Mission from August 2005 - August 2007, and Ian just completed his service in the Canada Calgary Mission which started in August of 2006. Let me tell you, it's good to all be together again. There are so many stories that the three of us already share in from our days of high school and serving on summer camp staff, let alone just growing up together, but now all three of us have the opportunity to sit and reminisce on the people that we learned to love as we shared the message of Jesus Christ.

The funniest part of our reunion is that Ian didn't know that it was going to happen. Mom and Dad decided to drive up to pick him up and then the rest of us (except Emma) flew up to Idaho. Kaylene, Mira and I flew up to meet the happy travelers in Hayden Lake, Idaho at my grandparents' house where Ian was already planning on eating Mexican food made by our Aunt Chris (that tasted great!), and then the other two, Alan and Nicole, traveled to Pocatello, Idaho and were at Emma and Robert Wood's house when the rest of us showed up. It was great to be all together again and what made it even better was that it didn't seem really like there had been that gap of five years. We just picked up where we left off when the whole thing started (although with more numbers).

Family is just great.

GENDER

We have found out the sex of our dear little one we are expecting. We would have waited until the baby was born but because of the fact that my sister-in-law Brooke and I are expecting at the same time it would be fun to find out together (for matching outfits and such, of course).

Well, the verdict is the same as the poll guessed. We are having a GIRL!!! We like the idea that Mira and this new little one will be close and become best buds, but it would have been fun to have a boy because we already have a girl. I, Kaylene, personally don't have a sister and so it might be hard to for me to understand if they quarrel and such in their adolescent and teenage years. But, we are just going to have to take all of this one step at a time. Anyways, it is exciting!

Also, we don't have a name set in stone so if anyone has any suggestions; please feel free to share.

Fun on the Sea

Larry and I decided to get away this summer on a cruise to Ensenada (expensive as they are). This would be our Husband and Wife bonding time away from the baby. We did enjoy it but I have a feeling we won't be doing that again for a while. Both of us enjoy being alone with not too many people nearby. We couldn't leave our cabin without seeing lots of people and hearing lots of voices. We kept going to the front or the back of the ship to get away from all the hoards. The trip to shore was our favorite.

Happy Father's Day / Graduation - June 15th

We would like to congratulate our newest graduate in the family...Larry Frost. We are all proud of him and his accomplishments. He graduated Cum Laude (with Honors).

50th Wedding Anniversary

GRADUATION!!

Larry is Graduating this Sunday with his Bachelors of Art in Music. We are so proud of him. Yet this is not the end. Larry has already been accepted to the University of Redlands to earn a Masters in Music Education along with a credential. Hurray, more school!

Personally I am excited that I have my husband back for the next few months.

I would like to invite all who have not heard the story of when Larry turned one to ask his parents or anyone who was there. Supposedly it was the most hilarious of any baby cake eating experiences ever. (His dad says Mira came close. Good job Mira)

Coming Up

We just can't believe that our little girl will be turning one in just a few days. It seems as if we were just waiting for the time when she would arrive. Now, I guess, it seems as if we have had her forever. Mira is such a sweetheart. She loves everyone and finds joy in everything. All the time I get comments on how cute she is and they fuss over her. I get more attention when I have her then when I don't.

Some good news...she is starting to understand and use signs to communicate. She knows how to open and close her hand when she wants milk. And even though she doesn't know what it means she makes her pointer finger go up and down in the sign for who? It is soooo cute. It will be fun to find out what more she will learn within the next few months.

Baby Countdown

I decided that we should have a baby countdown on our blog to help me remember how many days it will be until I will absolutely have no time at all. Yipee! The baby is due in October, which sounds farther away than 160+ days. Mira's birthday is a week from Sunday with her party the day before. If any of you have not received and invitation please let me know your address and it will get there as soon as possible. Luv ya all!

Well, I guess this is Hello to the blogging world. I am now an official blogger. I have succumbed only because I read everyone else's blogs and love to see the updates and so I will give all of you the benefit of keeping up on the crazy life of the Frost Family. Our daughter Mira is our flower and she is more beautiful every day.
