Aspynn Turns One Year Old!!!!!

We had a lot of fun at Aspynn's birthday party.  Cookie decorating, pin the nose on the pumpkin and the sand box were enjoyed by all the youngin's.  We still can't believe that she turned one today.

It sure is fun to see her walking.  Her smile and those bright blues shine up any room.  We LOVE you ASPYNN!

Great and Terrible Week

This week was hard yet so much fun!!

Sunday I found out that my brother Seth was willing to go with me, and the girls, up to Idaho for a family reunion. So we packed and got everything ready to go out Thursday morning. We drove...all...the...way...to...Idaho Thursday and arrived at the camp site 12:30 am Friday (Idaho time). Yikes!!!! It was about 16 1/2 hours because of all the stops we had to make for the girls. Then we kept everyone up because Aspynn woke up and was not happy and wouldn't calm down for an hour. Sorry! Needless to say, we arrived safely and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The reunion was for the Genther side of the family and there were many people there that I hadn't seen for years! It was great to meet new spouses and children of my cousins. Mira had the greatest time with all of her second cousins and cousins (Devi). Rebecca's and Kirsten's girls especially wanted to play and show her around. Thanks little ladies. Aspynn was adored by all with her piercing blue eyes and playful smile. Oh, also thank you to Tacie's daughter Cambrie for sharing her doll stroller. We know what to get Mira for a future present.

We had fun playing in the Lava Hot Springs pool. Mira learned to jump in from the side of the pool where Mommy, Grandma or Grandpa caught her. She didn't want to do anything else in the pool and wore out all of us.

Larry's brother, Ian, who lives in Pocatello at the moment, just happened to be going to Lava Hot Springs with some friends and was able to take me, Kaylene, tubing down the river there. It was great fun ...until... a guy from our group ended up caught at the bottom of a small waterfall where I was headed and with the current I hit him and bumped him out of his predicament. Well, in doing so I was flipped over and ended up with only a few bumps and bruises. Except, while I was trying not to die or hurt myself very badly, the river decided to steal my eye glasses when I went under. Yup, I was then blind the rest of the day and the next, which was all the way home where I had an old pair to use until I got new ones.

Lucky for me Seth was able to drive all the way home on Sunday, another 14 hour trip. Yay for the girls being able to handle such a crazy trip. I think they will love to see themselves in pictures one day looking back at their second cousins. We were grateful to go and we always have so much fun on the Genther side for family reunions.

Growing UP

Just a quick update on our little girls.

Mira is talking more and repeating a some of what we say. She cay say more of her alphabets and continues to sign them too. She is starting to sing some of the songs that we have sung to her. Like 'twinkle, twinkle little star', and e-i-e-i-o. We love that she is starting to 'share' with her sister and we think they will become best buds.

Aspynn is growing up so fast. She is now army crawling everywhere and can now get into things on the floor. She loves her sister and laughs when Mira is showing off. Aspynn has found her tongue and sticks it slightly out just because she can. It is way cute and I need to get a pic of it and post it. Aspynn loves food and is loving all the new flavors I am giving her (and her sister, thus the sharing, which sometimes isn't good. :)

How come we are so bad at this?

Oh yeah,

Because our computer wanted to quit on us. We don't have our normal computer to play with, so we have a billion pics to download and all of the projects we want to do have been postponed. Hopefully in the near future we will get our tax return back which will buy us a new computer. THEN we will keep up (that means at least once a month) on posting to our blog.

To update:

Larry has started substituting for the San Bernardino School District and has enjoyed working everyday since he was able. To tattle on him...I think he is a facebook addict and you will always be able to find him on there when he has the least bit of time.

Kaylene WHOOHOOO is going to the BYU Women's Conference this week. Leaving Wed (29th), returning Sat (2nd). I am so excited! The hardest part is leaving my family for 4 days. Especially Aspynn who is a momma's girl. I feel for my friend Sarah who gets to hear her scream for the next 4 days. I have been trying to make it easier for everyone, but we shall see.

Mira is now sleeping on a toddler bed. (The crib without the front) The hard part is for mommy and daddy when she wakes up in the middle of the night and knows that she can come into our room. Mira is so smart. She almost knows all of her abc's in sign language and can recognize some of them on paper as well as say some of them.

Aspynn is showing more of her personality lately. She loves touching and tasting things. She is learning to scoot and is still learning the benefits of rolling over. Aspynn only wants mom when she is tired and has very good lungs. It is so much fun to see Mira put on a show for Aspynn and then see Aspynn laugh and smile. They sure love each other.

Our garden is doing great. The plants that are doing well are the corn, tomatoes, beans, spinach, swiss chard, and bell peppers. We will post a pic soon.

This is starting to sound like a Christmas letter so I will leave you with that and look for upcoming posts from our new computer. :)

It's that time again.

Well, as you may have noticed, we haven't added any new post on here for quite a while. Let's just say that things have been somewhat busy, not to mention the fact that the display on our computer has not been cooperating (it is worse than a stubborn toddler).
Here are some of the other things that have happened in the last few months:

Larry lost his job at Juvenile Hall and started the credential program at University of Redlands.
Kaylene started a little business.
Mira continues to grow like a weed and is increasing her vocabulary by leaps and bounds. She can sign the entire alphabet with help as well as identify a number of letters on her own. Mira also enjoys helping with the dishes and other things around the house more and more.
Aspynn is working hard to catch up to Mira in size. She continues to eat well and sleeps longer when we leave her in her bouncy chair than when we put her in the bassinet. She still hasn't rolled over, but is getting close.

Over the last few weeks, we have been planting a garden in the back yard. We put in a few tomato plants, some peppers, corn, zucchini, squash, cucumbers, beans, broccoli, spinach, swiss chard and carrots. Hopefully our harvest this year with a lot of different plants is similar to the harvest last year with only a few types. It's been a lot of fun to play in the dirt as a family.

Hopefully it doesn't take us quite as long to get back on here again.

Aspynn Vera Frost

Aspynn Vera Frost joined our family at 9:48 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2008 (yes, we know it's Halloween). She was 7 lbs. 14.5 oz, 19.5" (but isn't going to stay that small because she eats really well).

We went into the hospital at 11:30 p.m. Thursday night to be induced, but they decided to see if things would progress on their own. After receiving some pain medication, we both slept for a few hours and the contractions slowed. Kaylene recieved an epidural at about 7:30, they added pitocin to the I.V. after that, and Aspynn came a bit later.

Idaho Vacation and Yellowstone July 08

My parents, Mira and I (Kaylene) were able to drive up to Utah, Idaho, and Yellowstone this summer to see family. It was an exciting adventure. We were sure glad to see so many of our family that we haven't seen in a long while. We love you all!!

It's been a while . . .

First off, this is Larry and not Kaylene typing up this entry, but I figure that since this is a blog for our family, it's free game.

It has been a while since we posted anything on our blog and there is a lot to say, just it has been hard to find time to say it recently. We'll get around to it. We promise.

It has been a while since my family (parents and siblings) have been all together, almost five years in fact. I know that there are other families with a longer record than that, but still, five years feels like a really long time for a family where we are used to having each other around, especially us boys. And really, us boys were the ones that weren't around. We weren't around because each of us received a call from God through His living prophet to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I served in the Albania Tirana Mission from October 2003 - October 2005, Alan served in the Brazil Campinas Mission from August 2005 - August 2007, and Ian just completed his service in the Canada Calgary Mission which started in August of 2006. Let me tell you, it's good to all be together again. There are so many stories that the three of us already share in from our days of high school and serving on summer camp staff, let alone just growing up together, but now all three of us have the opportunity to sit and reminisce on the people that we learned to love as we shared the message of Jesus Christ.

The funniest part of our reunion is that Ian didn't know that it was going to happen. Mom and Dad decided to drive up to pick him up and then the rest of us (except Emma) flew up to Idaho. Kaylene, Mira and I flew up to meet the happy travelers in Hayden Lake, Idaho at my grandparents' house where Ian was already planning on eating Mexican food made by our Aunt Chris (that tasted great!), and then the other two, Alan and Nicole, traveled to Pocatello, Idaho and were at Emma and Robert Wood's house when the rest of us showed up. It was great to be all together again and what made it even better was that it didn't seem really like there had been that gap of five years. We just picked up where we left off when the whole thing started (although with more numbers).

Family is just great.
